Scott, Francie, Jeremy, Thomas, Nathan & Kurt

Scott deShon and Francie Hunt started this bike shop to spread our passion for cycling to the East Nashville community.

Scott (far right), an expert-level mountain-bike racer, is an experienced bike mechanic and has managed bike shops in Florida and Tennessee.

Francie was an expert mountain-bike racer and enjoys family rides and being a guerilla bike monster.

Nathan Hunter (2nd from right) loves Nashville. He enjoys reading and writing stories, making loud music, and playing board games. Nathan comes to cycling by way of utility and necessity; he doesn't compete in cycling, but tries to see how far and how fast he is comfortable biking from one side of town to the other. He has a bachelors degree in psychology from MTSU, where he also studied Spanish and English, but his real passion is discussing the philosophical and mechanical implications of time travel.

Jeremy (far left) has loved bikes his entire life. He loves slow rides, fast rides, rides that start clean and finish covered in mud, he especially loves racing cyclocross. Jeremy thinks that bicycles can be powerful tools for personal and community transformation. He lives in East Nashville and is thrilled to work at Eastside Cycles because of his awesome colleagues and the active role the shop takes in the EN community. He also finds that working with guys who are faster than him makes it much easier to stay away from beer and ice cream.

Kurt's earliest memories revolve around riding bikes. On the back of my Dad's Rollfast Mustang in a metal seat, I remember my first crash at 4 years old and picking gravel out of my knee. Around 8 years old, after out- growing my first real bike, (w/ removable top tube to covert to "girl" mode..), frugality on my Dad's part led me to salvaging parts to hang on a 20" stingray knock-off I found in someone's trash, to build something to ride. Thus began a lifelong involvement with bi- cycles; riding them, building them, looking at them, fixing them and talking about them. I love riding with my family and introducing people into the sport through the shop, and dream of a future where bikes on the road outnumber cars by 100 to 1!
